Phantom Gallery Chicago Network will host the first ever Rant-a-thon, Read-a-thon, Speak-a-thon Radical, Revolutionary, Progressive - Speak Up, Speak Out, Poetry Reading & Art Exhibit, Friday, October 10, 2008 8 p.m. – 1 a.m. at Electrical Union Workers Hall 37 S. Ashland (corner of Ashland & Monroe) Sacramento.

Environmental art can explore and strengthen the relationship between people, art and landscape, is emerging as an effective community-strengthening tool. Art creates a framework for interpreting this connection using the cultural or environmental history of a particular piece of land as the catalyst. By building broad public support for a project and the landscape on which it sits, art can also play an important role in promoting the benefits of community living.
The artists installations will give a human face to environmental issues; empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development; promote an understanding that communities are pivotal to changing attitudes towards environmental issues; and advocate partnership, which will ensure all nations and peoples enjoy a safer and more prosperous future.

Mobile Exhibition wants to work with the Garfield Conservatory by providing a weekend of local contemporary art for its visitors. We have seen the integral role that the Conservatory plays in the Garfield Park community, and want to be a part of the effort.
The Conservatory is the ideal place for displaying Mobile Exhibition 3. The three trucks would exhibit perfectly in the western corner of the Lake Street parking lot. There they would draw attention to the Conservatory and provide entertainment for its visitors. The installations could be on display from Friday night and goes mobile during October 2008’s Chicago Artist Month.
Mobile Exhibition 3 explores themes involving: the evolving role of Museums, Conservatories and Zoos, the perspective of a working class individual against the scale of world events, and it continues to draw upon themes of civic systems in the urban landscape.
