Since it's inception in 1984, CUARC has been providing hope and inspiration to the various communities. Our open-minded environment promotes non-violence through art programs.
It is our hope that through these programs (such as the Peace by Piece event) we at CUARC will be able to spread our peaceful message, and will encourage people to examine how sexism, racism, and homophobia effect our lives. We also hope to empower youth to do something in service to their community for change. CUARC believes that art in all forms can be a vehicle for and the catalyst of change and the elimination of oppression.
Chicago Urban Art Retreat is celebrating youth advocating for peace with the our program series featuring adult and children's programming, peace walks, a neighborhood wide peace parks project, and two seasonal events. The first event will be a Back to School Street Festival at which youth and adults are invited to come together and share their talents (music, writing, dance, acting, etc.).
This years culminating event is a youth fashion show event: Peace by Piece: A Youth for Peace Fashion Show that will take place on September 28th at Gorilla Tango Theater (1919 N. Milwaukee Ave. Chicago, IL 60647).
Please support the Youth for Peace Initiative.
We are helping youth to understand the real meaning of peace, love, and acceptance.
Help by making sure that people attend from 2-5 p.m.
on September 28 at Gorilla Tango Theatre at 1919 North Milwaukee Blvd.

We want to make sure that no one is turned away for lack of funds.
So it is FREE to attend.
We suggest a donation at the door. But no one will be turned away. There will be raffles with great items we have obtained as donations!
Money raised will go to make sure we continue to offer FREE programming at our site!

The youth want and need your support. Please read the attached information.
Then go online and let people know about this great event & encourage people
to come & support these young people who want to show their talents!

Thanks for listening and let me know if you have any questions!
sincerely,                                                                    *B-) cool
